United Airlines Launches Daily Mainline Service At Fresno Yosemite International Airport

FRESNO, CA (August 16, 2017) – United Airlines today increased service between Fresno Yosemite International Airport and San Francisco International Airport with the launch of a 6:15 a.m. daily mainline flight operated with a 166 seat Boeing 737 aircraft. The introduction of mainline service replaces service previously flown on regional jets and adds more seats to the Fresno market during the morning peak departure period. Upon arrival in San Francisco, passengers can connect to destinations throughout United’s system.

In May, United announced it will convert select regional jet flights to larger mainline aircraft in ten markets across the nation including Fresno Yosemite International Airport. United provides travelers with access from San Francisco International Airport to the Asia Pacific region and other destinations throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America. United’s 6:15 a.m. departure from Fresno is conveniently timed with morning connections through San Francisco to popular destinations such as Hawaii and beyond.

In addition to United’s new mainline Boeing 737 service, SkyWest Airlines operates four daily regional flights for United between Fresno and San Francisco on the Embraer E175 and Bombardier CRJ fleet, in addition to its service to Los Angeles and Denver.

“The launch of mainline air service operated by a legacy carrier such as United is a significant milestone for Fresno Yosemite International Airport,” said Director of Aviation Kevin Meikle. “We are pleased United selected Fresno as one of the markets to increase air service across its network and the opportunity to provide more seats and flight options for Central Valley travelers.”

United and the airline’s ground handler, Delta Global Services, commemorated the launch of today’s mainline service by welcoming passengers at the boarding gate with a continental breakfast, balloons and a fun keepsake.

Fresno Yosemite International Airport currently offers Valley passengers daily non-stop flights to Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and Guadalajara, Mexico on domestic and international carriers. Fresno Yosemite International Airport is a municipally owned entity operating as a self-supporting enterprise. No City of Fresno general funds are used to operate Fresno Yosemite International Airport or Fresno Chandler Executive Airport.
